johnnyforthought asked: Why don't you post anymore? I miss youuuuuuuu

I’ve been extremely busy lately and I feel terrible about it cause I keep getting new followers and I always enjoyed running this blog.

I’ve been thinking about it and I might just end up picking people who would be interested and are following the blog to help me run it, I’ll try to post details before the end of the month.

unemployed-drummer asked: I just have a simple, snare, two rack toms + floor Tom, bass drum and a crash and ride cymbal. I don't like playing anything bigger ? Is playing a bigger set better ?

Well I wouldn’t call it better, firstly it’s a matter of choice. Some people simply like having less things, I feel it helps clear the mind. I’m slightly against having huge sets for the sake of huge sets but that’s like judging someone for having a hummer. Some people just like big things.

Usually, small gets the job done. I obviously could see how some music demands largers sets though.

bumpercardriving asked: Those cymbals look awesome. How do they sound?

Thanks!

The hihat is a medium so it’s slightly heavier than what I had in mind but the smaller size balances it I guess. They’re trashy, dark, quick decay. Almost like a stack when very tight and get a very nice washy sound when open. Very versatile hats.

The ride is higher pitched and pretty pingy. It’s even more quiet than I expected, which I was looking for, but I’m not sure how it’d go against a very loud guitar amp without a mic for itself. I love going at it with small tip jazz sticks, it makes the cymbal sound really bright and it has wonderful stick definition so each hit sounds great. I read lots of reviews previously that the bell was it’s weakest part and I have to disagree. I love this bell. Not over the top window-shaking loud.

Most of these are personal opinions though. Try meinlcymbals.com or mycymbal.com to listen to audio/video samples.

Finally have something to show. This is my practice as I couldn’t play a real set in an apartment.
DW practice set, Meinl 13” extra dry hats and a 20” vintage ride.
Everything you see in the set was bought used.

nofuckingfaith asked: Hey man! I myself love drums too, what kind of cymbals you looking to get? peace!

I have fallen completely in love with Meinl’s Byzance series. There’s just so much to choose from in that line.

I live in an apartment where volume is a big issue so I’m going with quiet cymbals; I’m looking at their Dark, Extra Dry and Vintage lines.

So far it seems I’ll get a Byzance Dark Ride, a Vintage Ride and Hi-Hats are still up for grabs. The Extra Dry is putting up a fight against the Vintage.
